Maine is certainly proving itself to be quite the adventure. Since arriving, I’ve pretty much existed in a bathing suit and Nike running shorts. Although the weather has been MUCH cooler than I’m used to, something about laying outside, under the sun in the crisp air is so refreshing. Yesterday, I swam in Craig’s Pond, a spring-fed glacier pond which was a chilling 65 degrees. It was a cool refreshing dip and I’m happy I decided to jump in and go for it.
This morning, I drove to Bar Harbor for some shopping and adventures. I bought some touristy gifts and apparel and we had lunch at Epi’s Pizza. (I had a delicious pastrami melt) After seeing the harbor and exploring the downtown area, we traveled into Acadia National Park to see Sand Beach and Thunder Hole. Some of these views were absolutely breathtaking — I was SO happy to sink my feet into the sand and feel the ocean again. Following this, we hiked up to the lookout points of Cadillac Mountain and the views again were so tranquil, I could’ve stayed up on these rocks forever in the serene environment, reading or relaxing. How fortunate are the residents of Maine to have so many astonishing natural wonders nearly in their backyards!
On the way back to East Orland, I couldn’t help but stop at Olympia Sports. The selection of New England sports apparel is slim to none in Kentucky so it was my paradise to entire the store and see racks upon racks of Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Celtics gear. I indulged ever so slightly and purchased a new Pedroia jersey since he just signed on with the Sox until 2021 😉
Below are a few photos of the beautiful sights I’ve seen, bits left of from our adventures at the Bangor State Fair, and my lovely family.
With love from East Orland,
Sarah Alexandra
