Tailgating season continues in the Bluegrass! This time around, however, I’ve traded my blue for red and traveled to Bowling Green to support the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers! For my boyfriend’s homecoming, I made the trip south and we also ventured down to Nashville for the evening to celebrate my birthday. The weekend was bundles of fun but the cold is coming in quickly! It’s so sad to see tailgate season end, but that just means we have time to prepare for basketball season in the Big Blue Nation!
Tailgate was enjoyable as ever this past weekend – the lovely gentlemen of my boyfriend’s fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, made the event a blast. The best surprise of all was that WKU hired a musical act to play at tailgate. Remember Sundy Best, the band featured in my most recent Music that Moves Me post? You guessed it — they played at the tailgate! It is always a treat to hear these boys from Kentucky perform and make beautiful country music that you can easily relate to. They played my favorite tunes, Distance and Lily and I’m not afraid to admit that I teared up a bit hearing their voices serenade the crowd. Below is the lyric video for Distance. The weekend wrapped up with Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s Homecoming Dinner and Dance where I got to hear the Jordan English Band play. They’re from my hometown and hearing members of the band that I grew up knowing was pretty incredible. All in all, it was an amazing weekend and way to celebrate my birthday even if it was a little nontraditional. As for me, I’m taking my allegiances back to Lextown and going to support my Wildcats in UK’s Homecoming game this coming Saturday! Go CATS!
With love from the long and lonely Bluegrass Parkway,
