As an unexpected venture on the schedule of shows I had plans for this fall, Florida Georgia Line made their way into my concert catalog. My boyfriend, Cory and I, were casually lounging at his parents’ house in Richmond when his mom mentioned that she had called into the radio station, 98.1 The Bull, earlier that day and won two free tickets to the show. I was astonished and frustrated at the same time — I had been calling the radio station multiple times a day that week to try and win these tickets! She called once, and won. How incredibly lucky. She didn’t express a desire to go to the show and offered the tickets to Cory and myself. With literally an hour until showtime and being a city away, it was difficult to motivate Cory to get up and go. He sure was thankful that we did! While the show was outdoors and a bitter 40 degrees (the jumbo-tron continuously reminded me of the temperature as it flashed on the screen next to the stage), seeing this group was extremely exciting. With FGL, Colt Ford (known best for Drivin’ Around Song with Jason Aldean) and Tyler Farr (recently released Redneck Crazy — a crazy true country anthem) performed and created a fun night for everyone in the freezing cold. Although FGL only has one album that has been released to the public, they had wonderful showmanship and got a little rowdy and country in the heart of Lexington at the Whitaker Bank Ballpark. One of my favorite songs, bonus track on the album, entitled Country in My Soul, was the best of the night and really pumped the crowd up. (See video below). I just absolutely love Florida Georgia Line and their ability to raise hell in a ball park and share simple songs that are SO easy to relate to as a Kentucky native. Thanks for a great show boys!
