My new job(s) are in full swing, and I’m constantly looking for ways to meet in the middle in terms of dress. One job requires me to dress very professional, and the second does not matter. Naturally, I am going to dress more professionally for both because it never hurts to be “over-dressed or over-educated” right? This outfit is an attempt at meshing the two worlds with a sheer, soft top, fun but elegant jewelry, and sleek, dark skinny jeans. I’m still very impressed with the fit of these denim skinnies from American Eagle that I picked up at a nearby outlet mall a few weeks back. For just $20, I found a fair of high quality, dark denim jeans that fit me perfectly and are the perfect length with tight-fitting ankles, great for riding boots! I think American Eagle (with Aerie) is making a shift towards appropriate sized and well-made clothing from what I can tell. I used to never shop bottoms at AE because the sizing was impossible. Shorts would tell me I’m a size four, jeans that I’m an 8, and dress pants that I could be a 10. Sizing in the same store (despite differences in fabric) should not differ so greatly. I was pleased to say that all the pants I tried on that day were a size 6 and fit reasonably well — I chose these for the color and quality.
I’m definitely feeling the pressure of summer coming to a close with less than two weeks until classes start, and my office being consistently busy with incoming students and their questions. It’s definitely my favorite time of year around campus, but a hectic one at that. I’m struggling to find motivation to get textbooks and back into the “swing of things” when work has been my life for the last three months. Exciting news, however! I am highly considering participating in another education abroad program before I graduate… Although it will be financially tough, I think returning to Latin America one more time before I graduate will be just enough motivation for me to push through senior year and onto graduation. Plus, the program will fulfill my remaining Honors Program requirements to graduate! I can’t wait to see where this semester takes me. Stay tuned for details! XOXO
