Between Superbowl commercials, the Halftime show, and the Grammy Awards, I heard so many songs, new and old, in the past few weeks that have found their way onto my morning playlist. Here are my top songs for this week:
Stay a Little Longer – Brothers Osborne
On numerous commercials and with a progressive music video, this song steals my heart every time. It’s definitely a go-to for my morning commute to work.
I tell myself I’m not in love, but one more time is not enough // One last kiss and then you’re a goner, and I’m here wishing you could stay a little longer
Home Alone Tonight – Luke Bryan & Karen Fairchild
So, it’s a little childish. But jealousy is real and this song hits you right in the feels when you know that payback is as easy as a Snapchat away.
So put your drink down, throw your camera up, flip it around and snap a payback picture
Let It Go – James Bay
Can we talk about James Bay’s and Tori Kelly’s Grammy performance? I think real tears were shed. Some of the best new talent around.
I used to recognize myself, it’s funny how reflections change // When we’re becoming something else, I think it’s time to walk away
Alexander Hamilton – Lin-Manuel Miranda
Also a top Grammy performance and award winner, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s production is fun, innovative, and at the TOP of my shower playlist. If only I wouldn’t have to sell my kidney and first born to get tickets to see it live…
When America sings for you, will they know what you overcame? // Will they know you rewrote the game?
Formation – Beyoncé
Although there is plenty of criticism to go around, Beyonce’s halftime performance was part of a beautiful and important display of solidarity for so many people.
Okay, ladies, now let’s get in formation, cause I slay // Prove to me you got some coordination, cause I slay
For the first time this week, I tried out TIDAL! An affordable music streaming service and global music and entertainment platform, TIDAL has a sleek user interface and more artists, genres, and videos than you can imagine. Every song on my playlist of the week can be heard on TIDAL! What makes TIDAL stand out, in my opinion, are the live performances included in the subscription service, and the fact that the company has partnered with Lil Wayne to promote community service done by college students in an initiative called the Social Wave For Change. To encourage social activism, Lil Wayne and TIDAL are giving college students awesome opportunities that reward them for completing impactful community service. PS – Students get 50% off when signing up for a monthly subscription!
Today through February 29th, any undergraduate college student at a four-year university can enter TIDAL’s Social Wave For Change initiative! Students must publicly post a photo or video on TIDAL’s Facebook wall or tag their Instagram account of them completing any type of community service act. The caption must include #TIDALXCHANGE, their school name, and tag a friend. A panel of judges selected by TIDAL will review all social media submissions to determine the finalists. Once the finalists are announced, the public will vote on a top winner who will receive a SILENT DISCO event for their school. How cool? The winner will also receive a Lil Wayne concert near his or her school! Even if you aren’t the top winner, all participants are eligible for a 3-month complimentary subscription to TIDAL! Read more here in TIDAL’s FAQ section!
Check out TIDAL to build your weekly soundtrack 🙂
