Now that I’m finally settled into my new apartment, I’m ready to start entertaining. Not only is it the best time of year with awesome weather so far, I live in an apartment complex that is actually conducive to having guests over and holding a fun event. My new apartment backs up to a shared courtyard with tons of seating, patio space, and an awesome barbecue grill – essentials for entertaining in the summer. Not to mention, my apartment has free and ample parking, so it’s no trouble getting friends over.
The two biggest obstacles I usually encounter when planning an event are food and décor. Not only am I on a pretty tight budget for entertaining these days, I want to have a meal and theme that is meaningful, multipurpose, and satisfying. My go-to meals lately have been based around baked meat and vegetables. Adding a grill into the mix for a summer barbeque is ideal because everything can be cooked at the same time, with fresh veggies in tin foil. With the right marinade and seasonings, this meal can be satisfying and healthy – especially if you indulge in desserts or beverages like I tend to do by the pool in the summer!
When planning an event, I love finding décor that is seasonable and modern, but also reusable. I look for decorative lights for outdoor events, personalized invitations, table toppers, plastic dishware and cups, and other fun items that are both affordable and versatile.
