Winter and I aren’t really friends. I don’t function well when the sun isn’t shining. Further, the holidays have always been a challenging time of year for me with so many functions to attend and many people to see and please. This year, I’m listening to my body and heart a little more and making time for myself to embrace the holidays slowly and gratefully. My winter theme? Cozy. I’m basing my schedule, style, and decor on this short little word that affords me so much warmth in a cold season. Thanks to Pottery Barn and The Summit at Fritz Farm, I created the coziest corner for the holiday season in my new living room. Read on to hear more about my picks.
While beating seasonal depression isn’t all hot cocoa and plush blankets, they definitely help. Leaning into the things that help me feel both awake and excited during the winter months always helps me stay in a great state of mind. For me, those items and activities tend to look like a little more dark chocolate than usual, keeping blinds and windows open whenever possible, and never letting myself feel cold. Tons of blankets and nightly baths contribute to the coziness I need to tough out winter in Kentucky.
I’ve never been one to go over the top with holiday decor because I’ve never had tons of extra space to store items away when not in use. For a quick Christmas decor spruce up, I picked a pom-pom blanket with neutral colors that can fit changing decor year-around, but that also gives added texture and warmth during the holiday season. For less than $100, I picked up all PB items shown here that make for an easy seasonal touch up to your existing home decor that can be repurposed throughout the year. These items paired together would also make a really thoughtful holiday gift for someone special in your life!
My experience creating the cozy space you see here actually started in-store at Pottery Barn in The Summit at Fritz Farm. I had a great time shopping for my favorite holiday pieces and received great support from store associates who helped me pick decor that fit my style and budget. My local Pottery Barn is nestled in a shopping area with 60+ retailers, including many Kentucky small businesses. The best part? The Summit at Fritz Farm is an open container community, meaning you can sip and shop with your favorite wine, beer or craft cocktail from one of the participating restaurants or bars making your holiday shopping more of an experience and less of a chore.
